A very Portland event. I think there were over 1000 santas this year as we took over bars and restaurants in North Portland. We even stopped by the mayor’s house and he came out and got the crowed pumped up with a megaphone. Then they handed out egg nog and we marched away singing Christmas carols.

Chair Affair 2010 is almost here!!!
Sunday, November 29th, 2009Chair Affair+ 2010 is around the corner! Note the plus sign – this year we get to do chairs OR other furniture. I picked this trunk because it has tons of surface area. There is going to be a glass top so it can be used as a table(i’ll etch the glass). Last year was the wave chair, open to any of your ideas on this one. Perhaps Mt hood+Trees?
Marathon
Thursday, October 22nd, 2009Ahh the Portland Marathon. 26.2 miles of torture through Portland’s streets. It was fun to see some of my friends run, as well as hand out beverages at mile 23.

Caitlin, my teammate from HTC and captain of Ragnar is in there somewhere. This was mile 6 at arounf 7:30AM. It was only 3 blocks from my house, so I figured the least I could do was get up and watch them.

On my way to the eastside to watch them at mile 23. Before this, I went home and sat on the couch for an hour while they kept running.

Why the big smile? Perhaps because she's done running. But also because she qualified for the BOSTON MARATHON!
After some long thought about long running I’m announcing that I want to run a marathon in 2010. So if your reading this, be sure to bug me to keep running. Lots.
Chair @ Mario’s and the Big Event Info
Thursday, April 2nd, 2009My chair is being featured at Mario’s on Broadway in downtown Portland. I went down with my niece, nephew and sis to check it out today.

The sign for which I based my 2008 PBR entry. So my art and inspiration are all within blocks of each other...
Come to the Chair Affair event!
What: Bid on my chair so I look like I know what I’m doing
When: Thursday April 23, 2009 - 6:00-8:30 pm
Where: Staver Locomotive – 2537 NW 29th, Portland, Oregon

Chair Affair 2009
Monday, March 9th, 2009I was invited to participate in this years Chair Affair put on by Community Warehouse. The idea is that a bunch of artists donate their time to raise money for poor people in need.
You pick out a chair at their warehouse down on Interstate Avenue in Portland and then decorate it any way you like.
I decided to go with the Great Wave theme based on Hokusai’s famous painting. If you would like to come and bid on my chair click here.
Pabst Art Contest 2009
Monday, February 2nd, 2009These are my entries for the 2009 Pabst Blue Ribbon Art Contest. Last year I got first runner up in the sculpture category with my PBR dog.
This years sculpture came down to the wire….I submited it at 11:57PM when the deadline was at midnight. I hope one of them makes it!
This is what my victory dance looks like…
Arctic Blast 2008!!!!!
Saturday, December 20th, 2008The creepiest place in all of Portland.
Monday, December 1st, 2008It’s called “Fat Cobra” and it’s on the fringe of the westside industrial area. Right where industrial meets deep, dark forests. I’m not brave enough to go inside. The seedy porn shops in 8mm come to mind.
A little googling and I dug up some dirt. There were several articles about the owner. Apparently he gave Sam Adams $500 for his mayoral campaign. Now that is dirty money.
I also found this rave review.
“Fat Cobra gots the fattest glory holes in town, yo. Seriously, you can pass a phone book to your buddy through one. And you better like it–all of the booths (except two) have them. There are 50 channels here (15 gay, three lesbian) and a strict no-smoking policy. Perks include an agreeable staff, one viewing room that holds at least 10, and an old-skool Galaga game.”
The rest of the review is quite a bit more graphic. Do some googling if you want to read it. It manages to get filthy enough that I won’t post it here.
